IN-PROGRESS
Something that differentiates most great PMs from anyone else is the natural curiosity to know more than “they are supposed to”. PMs don’t just consume anything. They want to get behind the scenes and think about what is really happening. Whether it is thinking about all the reasons your bus can be late today or what goes into deciding the frequency of changing traffic lights, wonder about everything.
When you start wondering about everything, you learn new things. And when you start learning new things, you find new interests. You delve deeper into those interests as compared to all the new things you learn. And because everyone has different interests, you get to build your own perspective on technology, products, services, and customers.
But building this perspective requires connecting the different things you learn about, which can come from simply consciously thinking behind the scenes and trying to build ideas for new possibilities. This unique perspective you develop with your unique knowledge enhances the key product skill of having an opinion.
