- The third paradigm of UI is intent-based outcome specification.
Where is design headed?
- Graphical user interfaces were part of the second paradigm of UI which has been highly popular for decades and extremely useful for their visual information.
- In the future, GUIs will co-exist with intent-based outcome specification where GUIs will adapt based on outcome expectations of a user.
- For instance, many users go to tools like ChatGPT and ask “Summarize this for me …” and eventually, the interface will be adapted where there will be a button to take this action instead of people having to type this in every time.
- Here, we are still giving the intent-based outcome specification, but through a GUI element.
